George’s sound was born in the horn section, playing trombone in all manner of jazz, funk, r&b and rock bands in his hometown of Philadelphia. Realizing his love for the craft of songwriting early on, he learned to play bass, guitar and keyboards as a vehicle for his writing and discovered his dynamic singing voice in the process. In recent years, the talented songwriter, multi-instrumentalist and producer also became a sought after sound designer and music mixer for hit television and films, and he injects those skills into his records to create lush sonic textures and emotional depth. Now based in Los Angeles, Stanford’s songs combine an East Coast soul and West coast sprawl.

George captures the spirit of the golden era of the 70's singer/songwriter--Paul Simon, James Taylor, Cat Stevens--with a fresh and original approach to the tried genre, with his songs making appearances in an ever growing list of tv shows and movies. Following his major label debut ‘Big Drop’ on Mercury Records and several independent EP’s, Stanford released the beautiful LP ‘Something Better’ on Oakwilde records, and continues to release a steady stream of acclaimed music.

Onstage, George has shined for audiences all over the country; playing his unique take on the American singer/songwriter tradition.  He has performed on NPR's Mountain Stage, World Cafe, and NBC's Late Night with Carson Daly.  He was recently named an Amazon Music ‘Artist to watch,’ and has been a featured artist on Apple Music and SiriusXM’s ‘The Pulse.'  He's toured with acts as diverse as Wyclef, Lissie, Babyface Martin Sexton, and the Wailers.
