“I Won’t Back Down’ was the nucleus of this whole project. I wanted to record this song in a big space. When The Church presented itself, that idea turned into something much bigger. In recent years, I’ve often closed my live performances with this song. The sentiment is so universal, and empowering. There was something so right about singing this in there…it felt cathartic and purposeful, and sums up this whole project for me.
